So, how can you brand a PDF? How difficult is it?

"Affiliate PDF Brander" is a simple bit of software which, for each PDF file you create, (more of which in a minute), produces a special Brander file.

Simply feed your PDF file into Affiliate PDF Brander, and it scans all the links. It prompts you for what you want to do with each link, and then it produces the Brander file, which you distribute along with your PDF file.

Your affiliates simply download your branding package, double-click on it and then fill in their details, one item at a time, following clear and simple instructions. Here's an example of the the form that they they fill in:

As soon as they have entered all the necessary details, the branding package generates and saves a complete, ready to use, branded PDF file on their PC.
 
Branding a PDF file doesn't get any easier than this! So, how does Affiliate PDF Brander Work?

When you feed your PDF file into it. First, it rapidly finds every hyperlink in the file and then asks you how you want to deal with it:

Here, it has found a link in the PDF. You have three choices:

• Ignore the link - it can't be branded
• Allow people to replace the link with one of their own
• Allow them to insert their own affiliate ID

This last choice is the most powerful feature of Affiliate PDF Brander. Look at the "XXXX" under the arrow in the image above. This is where you would put the "marker" in the link in your PDF file for where your users can put their affiliate ID - their ClickBank ID for example.

The link you put in your PDF file might, if it's a regular ClickBank "hop link", look something like this:

http://XXXX.yourClickbankID.hop.clickbank.net

Just type in the instruction you want to give people and - this is a powerful feature - type in your own affiliate ID. That way, if someone fails to enter their ID (it happens!), you will still get the sale.

If the same link appears more than once in the PDF, you only have to deal with it once. That's a great time save if you have the same link repeated many times over in a document. And your users only have to complete the information once, as well.

And How Do You Create Your PDF?

Assuming you don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for the full Adobe Acrobat software, you'll be looking at cheap or free alternatives.

I've tried dozens of them, and, with one exception, they all have drawbacks. The usual one is that they don't convert "anchor text" into clickable links. "Anchor text" is some text with a hyperlink - like this: Order Now! The one exception that I've found is the excellent PDF converter which comes bundled in with the free "Open Office" software. OK, it's a big download, but the software is superb. And the "Writer" module in Open Office is, in my opinion, much better than Microsoft's "Word".

So, you just produce your report in Writer, use the "Export to PDF" option, and the job's done. It's a no-brainer!

How The Viral Effect Works

Suppose that you give your Report and rebranding software to just 100 people. Let's also suppose that they each give it to just 5 people. So that's 600 copies of your Report in circulation - your original 100 plus an additional 500.

Now here's where the viral effect kicks in..

In your report, you put a link to a web page (which you can quickly and easily build) inviting these extra 500 people to grab a rebrander. Now being realistic, maybe only half of them take up the rebranding offer and each of these give the report to 5 people. That's another 625 readers of your Report.

If this pattern repeats, in a short space of time, you'll over 30,000 readers of your report, as the table on the right shows.

OK, you can play around with the two variables, but which ever way you cook it, the viral recipe is a winner.
